French government adviser called Mourad Boudjellal over Marseille acquisition bid

L’Équipe confirm that an adviser to French President Emmanuel Macron called Mourad Boudjellal about the Saudi Arabian investors that he is seeking to acquire Ligue 1 club Marseille with.

Boudjellal was reached out to on Friday afternoon by a Macron adviser to have more information about the nature of his Saudi backers.

This move is nothing particularly exceptional however, with Macron sceptics keen to try to make it look like the renowned OM fan was trying to use his political influence in the footballing realm.

The same adviser made contacts with GACP when they were in the process of trying to acquire another Ligue 1 club, Bordeaux a few years ago.
