Gauthier Ott explains decision to reject Nancy professional deal for Hoffenheim

Speaking in an interview with L’Est Républicain, 18-year-old French youth international attacker Gauthier Ott has explained his decision to reject a professional contract offer from Ligue 2 club AS Nancy, where he was formed as a youth prospect, and accept a proposal from German outfit Hoffenheim.

“I would have liked to sign with Nancy and stay in the club that formed me. But what interested me, was the sporting project. And over there, it is good for young players. There are a lot in the league (the Bundesliga). That is what attracted me. It is not a question of money. In any case, when you are young, young you get little contracts. I understand the disappointment of the board, it is normal, that the president is annoyed. I did not want to do anything behind Nancy’s back, I kept everyone informed.”
