Gelson Martins banned for 6 months for pushing Ligue 1 referee

The LFP have this evening announced the 6-month suspension of 24-year-old Portuguese winger Gelson Martins, concluding that he engaged in violent conduct against a matchday official during a recent league match between Nîmes and AS Monaco.

Martins was sent off during the match, and pushed referee Mikael Lesage twice, once before being red carded and once afterwards.

Under contract with ASM until 2024, Martins was also punished internally.
