33-year-old French attacking midfielder and free agent Hatem Ben Arfa is signing an initial 1-year contract with Ligue 1 side Bordeaux after undergoing a medical today, according to RMC Sport and L’Équipe.
The attacking midfielder last played for Real Valladolid, where he never managed to make an impact, appearing for them just five times.
He is understood to have taken a major wage cut in comparison to his previous deal with the La Liga side in joining cash-strapped FCGB. There is the option to extend his contract by a further 12 months.
On 27th September, Bordeaux manager Jean-Louis Gasset had the following to say on Ben Arfa: “Hatem Ben Arfa, he is a creator, a footballing genius. If it is possible… honestly, I don’t know.”
