Speaking in an interview with L’Équipe, French youth international Jonathan Bamba had the following to say on his future at Lille.
“For me, it was out of the question that I would leave. I had things to prove and above all to myself. We reflected on it with those around me and my advisers. I am a competitor. Last season was not good in terms of my expectations. I wanted to give back the faith that was placed in me. Today, it is paying off. Up to me to continue to help the team.”
On Lille’s start to the season:
Despite the fact that things have not completely clicked, we are managing to get results. When everything will be perfect, it will be beneficial for the team. All the competitions are good to play in. We did not work last season to play our European matches to the fullest. We have a fairly large squad that will allow us to get results in Ligue 1 and the Europa League.
