Speaking to M6 following France’s 1-0 victory over Sweden in the UEFA Nations League, Kylian Mbappé admitted that the 3-4-1-2 formation needs work if it is to become a viable future option for the national team.
“It is a new system, we are playing away from home, this was a difficult match. We fought hard, it was not easy. There were a few nice sequences to remember, but things aren’t going to be top immediately but we saw that we could have done better. [With the system] it is clear that I am closer to the goal, I am happy. But it also corresponds with characteristics of other players in the team. We are not all at the same level (physically). The most important thing is the win, we have started this group stage well.”
On if he will play vs Croatia on Tuesday, two days before Lens vs PSG:
I don’t know, we will see with the coach. If he wants me to play, I will play with great pleasure, otherwise I will stay on the bench.
On his ankle:
I am in a bit of pain, I took a hit but it will be better in the coming days.
