Portuguese 1st division side Boavista’s representatives last night confirmed to local media that they had entered into exclusive negotiations with Ligue 1 side Lille owner Gérard Lopez for the Luxembourg businessman to acquire their club.
The exclusive period will run for 6 months – Lopez is poised to purchase 51% of the outfit. Third time would appear to be the charm for Lopez, who has failed in attempts to buy two other Portuguese sides in recent months: Gil Vicente and Setubal.
Last summer, LOSC began a partnership with Belenenses, which saw the Portuguese club receive Les Dogues’ young talents on loan – that partnership is quite clearly coming to an end.
Both Luis Campos and Gérard Lopez view the Portuguese 1st division as a good springboard for their young talents to enter the world of professional football from.
O Jogo annnounced yesterday that talks for Lopez to acquire Boavista were so advanced that the Luxembourg businessman has already submitted a €1m advance.
