La Voix du Nord reports that Lyon are in active opening talks with Lille boss Christophe Galtier about a move next summer, with current boss Rudi Garcia’s contract expiring in June 2021 and him being unlikely to receive an extension offer.
Galtier’s existing deal with Les Dogues runs until June 2022. OL have been making “puppy dog eyes” in the ex-St Étienne man’s direction, per the local outlet.
Earlier in October, Lyon President Aulas explained to OLTV on current manager Garcia’s situation:
“We have done it so that everyone’s contract is aligned with the 30th June expiry so that we can be free to take a manager who suits us or to realign, maybe, if we are in the Champions’ League… there is no decision made in either direction (yet).”
Galtier’s entourage has told OL that under no circumstances would their client leave Lille in the middle of the season.
