L’Équipe report that Ligue 1 side Lyon have made an improved professional contract offer to 19-year-old right-back and club youth product Pierre Kalulu, with considerably better financial terms attached, as they seek to fight off competition for his signature from Bayern Munich, Sevilla and AC Milan.
At the moment, it is the Italian side that are best placed to land the French U20 international full-back.
But OL are making considerable efforts to reverse the situation, both with an improved financial package and also trying to carve out the possibility that Kalulu plays as Léo Dubois’ understudy from the beginning of the upcoming campaign, as Sporting Director Juninho seeks to find an exit door for both Rafael and Kenny Tete.
At the moment, AC Milan are offering the teen more playing time guarantees. More specifically, OL have been trying to orchestrate a transfer for 29-year-old Rafael to Botafogo. The ex-Manchester United man is however in no hurry to return to Brazil and feels good at Lyon.
Although it is by no means certain that these measures taken by OL bring about convincing Kalulu to stay, it has been significant enough to the player’s camp that the teenager has decided to take more time before making a final decision.
