Speaking in a press conference yesterday to unveil the signing of Zimbabwean international attacker Tino Kadewere from Le Havre, Lyon Sporting Director Juninho sent a warning shot to players who might be disappointed about OL’s failure to qualify for European competition via league placing this season.
“With Tino, you feel his desire to play for the team, and that is what we want. If players don’t want to play for us, they must leave… It is just an analysis on my part. We have a quality squad, but we have not been able to create the best team spirit this season, notably at home when we let points slip, points that maybe would have enabled us to finish better than 7th. There is maybe a lack of leaders in this squad. When I arrived last year I was surprised to see players who were not happy to be here. I was surprised because there are few clubs who operate at a higher level than us. Those players, if they are not happy, must leave.”
