Marseille boss Villas-Boas wants the 2019/20 season to finish in December

Speaking in an interview with RMC from his family home in Portugal, Marseille manager André Villas-Boas sided with OGC Nice President Rivère with the latter’s proposal to finish the 2019/20 campaign in December amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“This is difficult for everyone. We are starting to think that the most viable option would be to finish this season in November to December and then stick with a schedule that is aligned with calendar years from 2021 to reach 2022 and the Qatar World Cup. After that, we would have to return to the normal calendar. For the financial health of the clubs, it would be good to finish this season.”
