Metz in negotiations with Udinese for defender Nicholas Opoku

Ligue 1 side Metz are engaged in negotiations with Serie A side Udinese over the possible signing of 22-year-old Ghanaian international central defender Nicholas Opoku, according to L’Équipe.

Opoku spent the last six months on loan with Amiens, who were relegated to Ligue 2 and therefore the player refused to accept to join them permanently despite the Picardy side having wanted to activate their €4.5m option to buy him.

Les Grenats expect to lose promising defensive talent Mamadou Fofana, which is why they are seeking to strengthen in this area. FCM had also been in talks to sign promising defensive talent Boubakar Kouyaté from ESTAC Troyes, but have now paused those conversations.
