Speaking to Le Matin Dimanche, disgraced former UEFA President Michel Platini confirmed that he has received an offer to become an adviser to Philippe Piat, the president of FIFPro, the world union of professional footballers.
“Philippe Piat, the FIFPro President, offered for me to become his personal adviser. I have always respected and defended the footballers. And with my experience, I consider myself to have legitimacy for this role. So if I can provide a service today, I would be delighted to do so, without having any political thinking about it. However, nothing is done yet.”
FIFPro released a statement at the end of January when rumours surfaced about this Platini job offer, stating: “no similar position has ever been offered, even less so approved, by the board.”
