Minister for Sports Maracineanu goads clubs seeking to take legal action following league cancellation: “If they want to go to court, then go.”

Speaking in an interview with RMC last night, French Minister for Sports Roxana Maracineanu appeared to make light of the announcements from Toulouse President Olivier Sadran and Lyon President Aulas that they would be taking legal action against the LFP for their decision to terminate the 2019/20 season after 28 games played owing to the ongoing disruption to football caused by COVID-19.

“We cannot avoid this, not even through law. What we are doing, is to reinforce the decisions made by federations so that they can change their rules. Basically, they will not secure (legal) decisions. Now, I appeal to everyone’s sense solidarity and responsibility. If they want to go to court, let them go.”
