Speaking on BFMTV, the French government’s Minister for Sports, Roxana Maracineanu, insisted that the LFP was responsible for terminating the 2019/20 campaign, not the government.
“The decisions were taken by the authorities in question (the LFP). That is what happened for football. It is not up to the Sports Ministry or the government to sort out the calendar, but to give the broad strokes, a visibility to sport which fits more broadly within the constraints that our society has known.”
This notably considerably contradicts St Étienne co-president Bernard Caïazzo from an interview conducted a few days ago.
