Nîmes unable to pay players after March

L’Équipe report that Nîmes President Rani Assaf has informed the playing staff that the club will not be in a position to continue paying their wages after March in the event that the LFP does not find a broadcaster to take over some or a portion of the Mediapro deal.

Les Crocos have made very little money in recent months, owing to the absence of ticket revenue and a lack of TV rights payments. Nîmes have the smallest budget in Ligue 1, at €40m, and they had the highest proportion of their yearly revenue in 2019/20 from TV rights money: 70%.

On top of that, Assaf is dealing with major discontentment from inside the playing staff over his decision to freeze bonus payment because of the COVID-19 crisis, with each player now losing out on more than €10k each as a result.
