Speaking to L’Équipe, Ligue 1 side OGC Nice’s Director of Football Julien Fournier sought to get on record what the club’s fans should expect for the upcoming summer transfer window.
“We have a route card which we are trying to follow. Even though we are capable of investing, those who are hanging on the INEOS fantasy and the folly of grandeur will be disappointed. We are not going to throw ourselves into unconsidered acquisitions but we will be ambitious. Our recruits from last year correspond with what we want to do (Boudaoui, Nsoki, Dolberg, Claude-Maurice). But they did not have time to adapt. This time, we want to have a maximum amount of players for when training returns on 15th June.”
Fournier was also asked about Walter Benitez’s contract situation, with the Argentinian goalkeeper out of contract in June:
“We are very attached to Walter who is also very attached to the club, there is a desire to keep him. He wants to profit from his contractual situation and us, we have a club to manage: we have an economic middle ground to find.”
