BeIN Sports report that Ligue 1 side OGC Nice intend to add Gabonese international and St Étienne attacker Denis Bouanga to their ranks this summer, as they continue to strength the squad in a major rebuild undertaken by INEOS.
Les Aiglons on Monday reached an agreement with Sevilla for the loan with option to buy signing of 24-year-old attacking midfielder Rony Lopes.
However, after the sale of Ignatius Ganago to RC Lens and the decision not to activate their option to buy Adam Ounas from Napoli after an initial loan, Nice intend to sign another wide attacker on top of the Portuguese ex-Monaco man in the coming days.
Patrick Vieira’s side remain extremely interested in a deal for Bouanga, despite the fact that St Étienne are not officially willing to sell the player, especially not to another Ligue 1 club.
The feeling amongst insiders is that whilst Claude Puel absolutely wants to retain Bouanga this summer, ASSE’s financial position might not permit them to do so, after he scored 10 goals in Ligue 1 in 2019/20, adding 3 assists too.
Under contract with Les Verts until 2023, Bouanga also has interest from Everton.
Speaking to Le Progrès last week, Bouanga had the following to say on his future:
“Maybe my advisors have contacts but I am concentrated on my preparation. For the moment I feel stéphanois. I am still under contract, I feel good here, I have my friends, my family. I was supposed to go to Rennes (according to the press) but it was not I who went. I have a final to play and I saw the 23rd August, we start the league against Marseille.”
