Player Ratings | Lille 1-1 Lyon

Adam White takes a look at Ligue 1’s Sunday night fixture between two top of the table aspiration sides, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Lille OSC:

MAIGNAN, 6 – Typically understated and efficient display. Smart first half save from Toko-Ekambi one-on-one.

CELIK, 6 – Picked some useful balls from deep and produced a host of considered and accurate crosses. Unlucky with his own goal and was much less threatening after half time.

FONTE, 6 – Commanding as always before his injury just prior to half time. Threw an important block on a goalbound Depay shot.

BOTMAN, 5 – Solid again.

REINALDO, 5 – Often productive in possession but might have been more useful going forward.

ANDRE, 6 – Low-key quality as always.

SANCHES, 6 – Graceful midfield presence, covered a lot of ground and – a couple of wayward balls aside – his passing was varied and progessive.

ARAUJO, 5 – Dangerous on the counter in the first half but faded – one brilliant second half run aside.

BAMBA, 7 – Characteristically pacey and direct, repeatedly caused issues. Superb shaped finish for 1-0 and Lopes brilliantly prevented a second.

IKONE, 5 – Elusive presence around the area, slippery in possession and often finding space. But might have impacted the game more.

YILMAZ, 6 – A handful as usual before half time. Crucial to the opener, starting the move before a neat lay off. Very quiet after half time however.

Others – Soumaoro – 5, Yazici – 5, David – 5, Lihadji – 5.

Olympique Lyonnais:

LOPES, 7 – Little to do overall but managed two brilliant flying saves from Yilmaz and Bamba.

DUBOIS, 6 – Calm and physical, aided in an excellent defensive display in the second half.

MARCELO, 5 – Two harsh yellow cards.

DIOMANDE, 6 – Assured second half centre-back display after the red card.

CORNET, 5 – Outmaneuvered by Celik, gave up too much space in the defensive third before half time but sneaks a 5 having been party to a solid second half collectively.

MENDES, 5 – The game passed him by a little in midfield before the break but was solid in possession and did well to find Aouar for the equaliser.

PAQUETA, 5 – Worked hard in midfield but was unable to truly affect the game.

AOUAR, 6 – Some nice touches and passing around the area and his shot led to the equalizer and his snap through ball put Toko Ekambi through. Sacrificed early in the second half after Marcelo’s dismissal.

TOKO-EKAMBI, 5 – A confident first half performance, some incisive play, but should have scored when put through by Aouar. Booked for diving.

KADEWERE, 4 – Hesitant in possession and moves often stalled with him.

DEPAY, 6 – A key creative influence dropping off the front for the first hour – good vision and delivery but (understandably) disappeared after the sending off.

Others – Benlamri – 7, Bruno – 5, Dembélé – 4.
