L’Équipe and RMC Sport report that Rennes are in negotiations with Ligue 1 counterparts Dijon over the possible signing of 24-year-old Moroccan international central defender Nayef Aguerd.
After missing out on Mohammed Salisu, who has chosen Southampton instead and struggling to meet Monaco’s asking price for Benoît Badiashile (€30m including bonuses), Florian Maurice has a new sense of urgency in the transfer market for SRFC, who need to sign two central defenders this summer in their view.
Aguerd joined DFCO in 2018 and is well-liked by multiple European scouts who have spoken with Get French Football News. DFCO value the player at somewhere between €6m and €7m.
Rennes have accelerated talks in recent days with the aim of closing the deal as quickly as possible.
