As part of French President Emmanuel Macron’s government shake-up as announced this evening, Roxana Maracineanu has been demoted from her previous position as Minister for Sports.
During her time in the post, she presided over the French Football Farce that led to Ligue 1 being the only one of Europe’s major top 5 leagues not to complete its 2019/20 season after COVID-19 disruption.
She has been demoted to the position of Junior Minister for Sports, and has been replaced in the top job by Jean-Michel Blanquer.
