Speaking to RMC Sport, Lyon manager Rudi Garcia explained his decision to name an unchanged starting XI for the Champions’ League semi-final against Bayern Munich.
“What is particular about Bayern is that they are more physical than Manchester City and they have less ball in the middle and cross and overload more. When you know the quality of Müller and Lewandowski, we will have to deal with those situations. We will need man marking in crossing situations, we will need the midfielders to help… And we will need to exist offensively, do everything to excel. In the image of what we did against City, we will have to use the ball well, as well as the depth. It is one of the keys of the matches.”
On Karl Toko Ekambi over Moussa Dembélé:
One, Karl deserves it, the team won, and second of all, because they give me two completely different tactical options. I could use a load of different systems and as they play a lot on the wings, it will serve me to make tactical adjustments. And then Moussa is going to come and score a goal to qualify us!
