St Étienne appoint Julien Cordonnier as Director of Recruitment

RMC Sport report that Ligue 1 side St Étienne have appointed Julien Cordonnier as their new Director of Recruitment, replacing the departed David Wantier in part.

ASSE still intend to hire a Sporting Director alongside Cordonnier, who arrived at the club in February 2018 and was part of Wantier’s team – this is thus a promotion from within.

The decision to elevate Cordonnier was taken by the board, but in close collaboration with Claude Puel. The 39-year-old is a former professional footballer, who played for Châteauroux, Beauvais, Neuchâtel, Xamax and Clermont.

He was Sporting Director at US Orléans until January 2017.
