St Étienne have today announced the contract extension of 19-year-old central defender Wesley Fofana until 2024.
Previously contracted to Les Verts until 2022, tying down the teenage defensive talent had been a top priority for Claude Puel.
The player, who turned professional in 2018, has been the subject of considerable interest from European sides, including notably AC Milan.
Fofana had the following to say upon the announcement:
“I am very happy to extend my adventure with the club I came up at. It is also a show of faith from St Étienne. I have experienced a magnificent last few months and have had the opportunity to uncover the highest level with a 1st team. I now aspire to continue my rise and count on dedicating myself 100% to the team.”
