The Ligue 1 & Ligue 2 seasons are over; no football until August, French government will announce

L’Équipe journalist Bertrand Latour RMC Sport report that the Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 seasons for 2019/20 will not be picked up again.

The French Prime Minister, Edouard Philippe will announce this in his speech to the National Assembly. There will not be any professional football until August, and we will head directly into the 2020/21 campaign.

The LFP will meet next month to discuss the ramifications of this season and what it means for teams in relation to promotions, relegations and European places.

French Prime Minister Édouard Philippe confirmed this reporting during his speech: “The big sporting affairs cannot occur before September. The 2019/20 football season cannot return.”
