Téléfoot report that Inter Milan and Antonio Conte, who brought the player in at Chelsea, remain in pole position to land French international attacker Olivier Giroud this month.
Contrary to other reporting, Lyon have not spoken with Giroud. However, Premier League side West Ham United and Bordeaux have initiated conversations about a possible loan. The problem is that Chelsea want to sell.
Giroud seems somewhat hesitant about a move to Inter Milan when Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez are the established strike pairing at the Serie A club. However, at the moment, he thinks that becoming their third choice striker is his best bet and believes he will have a run in the Europa League, which he hopes will be enough to be in Didier Deschamps’ squad for EURO 2020.
Rennes President Olivier Létang, a guest of the show this morning, was asked about the player: “He is a very good player, Rennes is always interested in very good players. I think that he wants to remain with clubs that play in the Champions’ League.”
As previously reported, Didier Deschamps has discouraged Giroud from having further conversations with LA Galaxy or Toronto FC.
