Speaking to France Football, former team-mate of AS Monaco striker Islam Slimani at Leicester City, central defender Yohan Benalouane, had considerable praise for the Algerian international.
“He is a serial killer in front of goal. At Leicester, when he arrived, we were able to see all his qualities as a goalscorer. He tires out defences a lot. He is a net positive, whether that be going forward or defensively. He immediately justified the money that the club spent on him (€30m). He is a real fighter. He was really well-liked because of that. From the moment he arrived, he did us a lot of good. He made us laugh a lot, he spoke a lot, he is funny: it was just joyous. He is generous, always there to help a colleague. For him, nothing has ever been easy. He has always had to fight. To get to where he is today, he fully deserves it because he really fought for it. I am truly proud that he is one of the best strikers in Ligue 1.”
