Zinedine Zidane reacts to loss vs Man City: “Sometimes football is cruel.”

Speaking to RMC Sport, Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane reflected on a 2-1 home defeat to Manchester City in the 1st leg of their Round of 16 encounter in this season’s Champions’ League.

“I want to say that a football match lasts 90 minutes. We played very well, even scored at a moment where we were not as good. We did the hardest part, we were better after we scored, but we needed to hold on to the result and instead we made two mistakes. In 10 minutes, we lost the game. It’s tough. It is true that everything accumulated against us tonight, it felt like a lot. We even could have conceded a third goal. When you look at how the match went, we are not leaving with a good result, with all that we put in. It was a good match of football and it is a shame to finish it by losing. Now, there is the 2nd leg… We know very well that we are going to have to grab hold of the game. That is also the beauty of football, we are going to try to do it all in the 2nd leg.”
