97 fines handed out after people gathered at shisha bar to watch Marseille vs PSG

Police in the Bouches-du-Rhône area announced on Monday that they had handed out 97 fines on Sunday evening after people gathered at a shisha bar in Martigues to watch Marseille vs PSG, in full violation of the lockdown curfew rules implemented owing to COVID-19.

All people present received either a fine or double fine for not wearing a mask and not respecting the curfew.

Speaking in a press conference last Thursday, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin implored police to “be particularly vigilant about illegal parties and illegal restaurant operations.”
