Speaking in a press conference on Saturday, French international central midfielder Adrien Rabiot was asked if Didier Deschamps’ new 4-1-2-1-2 shape was problematic in terms of what it is demanding from its midfielders.
“Whether it is Paul (Pogba), me or another midfielder, we are capable to make the necessary efforts. It is true that it demands more efforts but, if we are well organised, coordinate well with our attacking players, it can work. We will have to see, however, against another nation that is not Wales (3-0 win on Wednesday). But the coach has given us the possibility to rotate positionally in midfield, to push on. It is a weapon that could cause other problems for opposition teams.”
