Antoine Griezmann dropped by Konami following Asian hate video

France international attacking midfielder Antoine Griezmann has been dropped by one of his major sponsors, Japanese firm Konami, following the uncovering of a video dated 2019 where the Barcelona man appears to make anti-Asian remarks with Ousmane Dembélé.

The news comes a day after Barcelona’s sponsor Rakuten announced that it was officially protesting against the Catalan club until it took action against the two players.

On Wednesday morning, Konami announced its decision to unilaterally terminate their contract with Griezmann:

“Konami Digital Entertainment feels… that discrimination of any nature is unacceptable. We announced at that Antoine Griezmann was becoming our content ambassador, but, in light of recent events, we have decided to cancel the contract. In terms of our eFootball PES franchise, we ask that FC Barcelona, as a partner club, explains the details of this matter and its intended future actions.”
