Caen sign Franklin Wadja from Lorient

FC Lorient have agreed to release 26-year-old Cameroonian international defensive midfielder Franklin Wadja from his existing contract, with 12 months left to run on the deal with Les Merlus, so that he can sign for Ligue 2 side Caen.

Wadja arrived in Normandy on Friday and signed a 2-year deal with SMC, with an option to extend by a further year, according to Ouest-France.

Caen, who have very little margin for manoeuvre in the transfer market, are now looking for an experienced central defender – they had agreed a deal in principle with Yoann Salmier on a free transfer from Troyes, but ESTAC in the end convinced the player to sign a 3-year contract extension to experience Ligue 1.
