Dante: “Last season did a lot of damage.”

Speaking in an interview with L’Équipe, Brazilian central defender Dante asked if the squad felt more pressure for the upcoming 2021/22 campaign as this is the 3rd season of the INEOS project.

“We shouldn’t think like that. The INEOS project started in August 2019 with a very late transfer window, and we had a lot of difficulties in the second season. Now, we have been given a top coach who has been able to form a group of competitors wherever he has gone. This is a step forward, but we have to assimilate what we did last season, criticise ourselves, and know how to listen to the new coach in order to change. We want to gradually move to the top of the table, to stay there, but last season did a lot of damage. Who arrived at pre-season with 1000% confidence? Amine Gouiri, maybe? We have to remain humble.”
