Speaking to RTL, French Football Federation President Noël Le Graët confirmed that he would seek to approach Zinedine Zidane when the Didier Deschamps reign as boss comes to an end, with Deschamps’ contract currently expiring in December 2022.
“We have a very good relationship with Zidane. From a personal perspective, at least. If Didier stops and I am still in place, the first person that I will go to see, is Zidane.“
Speaking to press, Zidane responded to Le Graët’s words:
“We have known each other since 1998, when he was at the league. We have always had a good relationship. The French national team, it could be an objective for me later on. I have already said it 10 years ago when I started managing. It could be a possibility one day. But today, I am here. It is a question of opportunity. I have been at Real Madrid for nearly 20 years, the club has given me the opportunity to manage this great team. That is something that excites me, that I like. I am concentrated on what is happening here for the moment. We will see for the future.”
