Georginio Wijnaldum ‘clashing’ with South American contingent at PSG

Georginio Wijnaldum’s problems have intensified at Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports.

Wijnaldum – who only joined PSG last summer from Liverpool as a free agent – has struggled to adjust to life with the French giants, and he has been plagued by poor form.

The Dutchman was joined by a whole host of new players during the summer transfer window, which included the likes of Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, and Gianluigi Donnarumma.

But despite the nature of his high-profile move, things haven’t worked out for the midfield enforcer in the way he would have hoped.

Recent reports have suggested that there are ‘cliques’ forming in the PSG camp, and the South American contingent are making life difficult for the 30-year-old.

It is believed that the South American crop of players are of the opinion that Wijnaldum should be dropped in favour of Leandro Paredes, whom they feel is more worthy of a starting spot.

Wijnaldum – who hasn’t played a full 90 minutes for PSG since their 4-2 win over Stade Brest back in August – has lost the support of the South American players in the squad, which also includes Angel Di Maria and Marquinhos.

Other reports have emerged suggesting that Wijnaldum’s alarming loss of form is of such concern, that PSG have already lined up Inter Milan star Marcelo Brozovic as a replacement next summer.

Wijnaldum hasn’t concealed the fact he is unhappy, and that things haven’t panned out in the way he would have hoped at the Parc des Princes.

He said: “I can’t say I am completely happy, because the situation is not what I wanted.

“I have played a lot in recent years, was always fit and also did very well.

“This is something different and that takes getting used to. I was really looking forward to the new step and then this happens. It is very difficult.”

But Wijnaldum’s indifferent form hasn’t affected PSG, who appear to be romping towards the title. As things stand, PSG are eight points clear at the top of Ligue 1, and they have lost just once this season.

If you read this Bet365 review, you will see that the bookmaker has its finger on the pulse in terms of its coverage of French football. They have amassed lots of data to provide insights into PSG’s performances, and used that to predict where they will end up this season. As things stand, the sportsbook have provided odds of 1/25 for PSG to clinch the Ligue 1 crown.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have been mesmerising, and they have produced a dazzling brand of football. In 12 Ligue 1 outings, they have netted 26 times, and there appears to be few teams that could derail PSG.

After a trip to face RB Leipzig in the Champions League in midweek, PSG are on the road again as they head to Bordeaux for their final Ligue 1 game before the international break.
