Jonathan David’s rose goal celebration was in tribute to his late mother

As reported by RMC, Jonathan David’s striking goal celebration after scoring in Lille’s 3-2 win against Bordeaux this week was a tribute to his late mother

Having scored what turned out to be a late winner for LOSC, who came from behind to win at Bordeaux on Wednesday night, the Canadian international ran towards the corner flag and was handed a pink rose which he pressed to his face and held aloft.

The celebration, RMC report, was a tribute to his mother who shared a name with the flower. This month marks the second anniversary of Rose’s death due to cancer.
