Over the course of Twitter Spaces session hosted by Actu Foot, French defender Wesley Fofana went over a number of anecdotes on his time in England so far, as well as discussing potential clubs he could join in the future.
The Leicester City man, formerly of Saint-Étienne, notably cited Liverpool forward Sadio Mané as his toughest Premier League opponent, and recounted striker Jamie Vardy’s surprising welcome for him in their first training session together.
“For my first training session in Leicester, Vardy comes in with his two feet off the ground and takes me out. He gets up and laughs: “Welcome to England”. I said to myself, these guys are crazy.”
“[My toughest opponent has been] Sadio Mané. When I was in 1 v1 situations with him, it was very, very tough. Each duel, each time he gets the ball, he wants to do damage.”
“[On whether he would one day play for Marseille] Maybe, we will see. I have been a Marseille fan since I was born. Marseille is a dream. We don’t know what football has in store for us.”
“[On the clubs he dreams of] There is Marseille, Real Madrid, Barcelona. In the Premier League, Chelsea, Man United, Man City… but you have to work to achieve your dreams. Through work, you can succeed in it all.”
