Ligue 2 clubs co-sign complaint against Nancy’s use of KV Oostende to bypass transfer restrictions

Ma Ligue 2 report tonight that eleven Ligue 2 clubs have filed a complaint over Nancy’s transfer practices to the French Football Federation. The teams have pointed the finger at the Lorraine club’s arrangements with Belgian side KV Oostende, with whom they share a president – Gauthier Ganaye – and shareholders, in order to circumvent transfer restrictions.

With French football’s financial authority – the DNCG – prohibiting the club from spending in the transfer market, Nancy have signed several players including Thomas Basila and Andrew Jung by signing them to the Belgian side and then loaning them in.

The majority of the league’s teams have now co-signed a letter calling out the club and Ganaye for “unfair competition”, not least in the midst of a pandemic that has hit all teams’ finances.
