In his pre-match press conference, Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni has confirmed that Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi will play in Wednesday morning’s World Cup qualifier against Brazil.
The Argentine had been recovering from a knee and hamstring issue which saw him miss PSG’s last two matches before the international break, having been taken off at half time in the win against Lille.
The six-time Ballon d’Or winner also underwent treatment on his knee in Madrid, along with compatriot Leandro Paredes who has also been sidelined of late for Les Parisiens.
He was nevertheless called up for international duty, and played a brief part in the match last Tuesday against Uruguay, with a 15-minute cameo.
Facing him will be club teammates Neymar and Marquinhos, with Lyon’s Lucas Paquetá also set to be in the starting 11 for the visitors, according to L’Équipe.
