L’Équipe report tonight that Lyon have turned their attention to Chelsea’s Emerson Palmieri in their hunt for a new left-back, with a move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Layvin Kurzawa now looking increasingly unfeasible.
The Lyon management are now prioritising the Euro 2020 winner and have been in contact to get a deal moving along. Despite earlier interest in Kurzawa, the club were unable to come to an agreement with either the player or PSG, with the Frenchman’s current salary at double what Lyon would be able to afford and his current contract running for another three years. Nor is Kurzawa partcularly interested in the idea of leaving Paris.
A move for Palmieri would appear more financially sound for Lyon – the 27-year-old looks set to be loaned out by the Premier League side with an obligatory permanent clause attached to the deal. Les Gones had also enquired over the possibility of bringing in Atlético Madrid’s Renan Lodi and Manchester United’s Alex Telles, although both players’ respective clubs turned down the approaches.
