Lyon’s Anthony Lopes on draw with Bordeaux: “Things need to improve quickly.”

Speaking to the press after his side’s 2-2 draw with Bordeaux yesterday, Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes was clear in voicing his frustration at Les Gones‘ performance.

His words transcribed in RMC Sport, the Portuguese international nevertheless insisted that his team now need to look ahead to the next few games in order to get to the winter break with some positive momentum.

“I feel anger and sadness, a mix of completely negative feelings. We were in front, we led 2-1, we had done the hard part. We get pegged back at 2-2 and we very nearly lose the game in the end.”

“A lot of things will need to be remedied. We have to do a lot more. We’re 12th in Ligue 1 now, which is completely unacceptable when we’re Olympique Lyonnais. Things are going to need to improve quickly. We have a few games left to finish the first half of the season more positively. We can’t go back in time, the damage is done.”

“Are OL in a crisis? It’s a very strong word. When we look in front of us, no one has really broken away apart from PSG. But we’re in an emergency, that’s for sure.”
