Manchester United speak to Rudi Garcia over interim role

L’Équipe report that Manchester United have spoken to Rudi Garcia, among other candidates, regarding the possibility of taking over at the club on an interim basis, following the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjær.

Confirming the news initially broken by Andy Mitten, L’Équipe add that the Frenchman’s perfect grasp of English is one of his main strengths with regard to the job – although he is not currently the favourite, with Lucien Favre, Ernesto Valverde, Paulo Fonseca and Ralf Rangnick also sounded out.

The former Lille, Roma and Marseille manager has been without a club since the end of last year, after his departure from Lyon – where he was replaced by Peter Bosz.

His notable achievements so far in management include winning the double with Lille, 2nd-place finishes in Serie A with Roma, and an impressive Champions League run with Lyon.
