Marseille in talks to sign Giovanni Simeone from Cagliari

La Provence report that Marseille President Pablo Longoria was in Milan on Wednesday to attempt to advance talks with Cagliari over the possible signing of 25-year-old Argentinian attacker Giovanni Simeone.

The son of the Atletico Madrid manager has emerged as a secondary option, after a deal for Kevin Gameiro from Valencia surprisingly fell through. The 34-year-old is a free agent and a deal had been agreed in principle for the Frenchman to sign a 2-year contract with OM, but Marseille fans, once they found out about the possible deal, because he was a PSG player from 2011 to 2013, sent violent messages to his wife on social media, resulting in Gameiro pulling out of the deal, according to La Provence.
