Newcastle in talks with Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembélé

Foot Mercato report this afternoon that Newcastle United have entered talks with French winger Ousmane Dembélé, with the Barcelona man’s contract expiring next June and no agreement found with the Blaugrana.

The former Rennes man, who has also attracted interest from Manchester City, has held talks with the Premier League side over the rough details of a five-year contract with an annual salary of €15m. Foot Mercato add that the Frenchman has asked for a signing-on fee of €15m, seeing as he would arrive as a free agent.

Barcelona had offered their number 11 an extension through to 2025 with a decreased salary – amid the club’s financial difficulties – which was turned down by the World Cup winner. WIth the Magpies now under ownership of the Saudi Arabian state, the new management could make the most of the Frenchman’s contract situation by sealing his arrival on Tyneside.
