Manchester United have announced tonight that an agreement has been found for the signing of French international defender Raphaël Varane from Real Madrid. The completion of the deal is subject to the World Cup winner passing his medical and player terms being ironed out.
L’Équipe had reported today that the Frenchman’s transfer fee was in the region of €50m, down from Florentino Pérez original asking price of €70m. Varane is also set to earn the same wages as his soon-to-be defensive partner Harry Maguire, and arrives after a decade-long spell in La Liga which has seen him win multiple La Liga and Champions League titles.
Real Madrid, on their end, have also released an official statement tonight confirming the centre-back’s departure.
