As reported by Foot Mercato, Barcelona and France winger Ousmane Dembélé has decided to stay at the Nou Camp and extend his current contract. This is good news for the club who had been waiting months for a sign, one way or the other, of the player’s intentions with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season.
However, the 24-year-old forward has yet to agree on new terms but, unlike his advisers – who want him to keep listening to other offers, Dembélé has decided that he absolutely wants to stay at Barcelona despite having struggled with injuries and form since his move to the La Liga side in 2017.
Agreeing a deal could be tough, however, given the club’s weak finances and that the player is seeking improved terms. Foot Mercato reported earlier this month that an English club had offered a salary of €20m plus a huge signing bonus of €30m. The winger joined the Spanish club in 2017 for €105m excluding bonuses.
