Pascal Dupraz is set to become new Saint-Étienne coach

As reported by L’Équipe, former Toulouse and Caen manager Pascal Dupraz is set to become Saint-Étienne’s new coach after Claude Puel was dispensed with last week following a 5-0 loss to Rennes.

After a meeting of the board yesterday the sports daily reports that the club have settled on Dupraz after former Reims coach David Guion turned down Les Verts last week. Dupraz reportedly beat the final man on the shortlist, Frédéric Hantz, after a vote.

The 59-year-old, despite failing at second-tier Caen after a promising start last season, is seen as a relegation firefighter and player motivator famous for his impassioned team talks which helped his Toulouse side stay up on the final day after being ten points adrift of safety with ten games to play in 2016.
