RMC Sport report this afternoon that the man who threw a bottle at Dimitri Payet on Sunday, leading to the suspension of the Lyon-Marseille fixture, has been handed a six-month suspended prison sentence.
The individual, who was apprehended in the stadium and has since been in police custody, will know his fate by the end of the day. Along with the prison sentence, the 32-year-old has also been hit with a five-year stadium ban.
An “exemplary sanction” had been asked of the judge by the prosecutor as well as Lyon, who have presented themselves as plaintiffs as well.
He will also pay Dimitri Payet, Marseille and the LFP one euro each and have to justify he is working during the next two years.
The Ligue 1 disciplinary commission will hand down its sanctions regarding the outcome of the game on December 8, after its investigation.
