Despite the signing of fellow centre-back Sergio Ramos earlier this summer, Foot Mercato report that PSG remain in contact with Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly after a representative of the Senegalese international met with PSG in Paris earlier this week. Koulibaly (30) remains under contract in Naples for two more seasons and has been linked with PSG many times previously, although sources told Get French Football News last summer that, at that stage, “We simply can’t afford him”.
Given the club’s pursuit of Paul Pogba and L’Équipe reporting that Paris should need to sell players before signing in order to make up part of a 250m-300m deficit, any deal seems a long way off. However, interest in another centre-back to partner Ramos, Presnel Kimpembe, Abdou Diallo (who notably improved under Mauricio Pochettino) and captain Marquinhos suggests Pochettino may be leaning towards a three man centre-back system. Which would follow, given the arrival of wing-back Achraf Hakimi from Inter Milan.
