Speaking to Ouest-France, Rennes director Florian Maurice has indicated his club’s intention of signing another central defender in the upcoming transfer window.
With the club only having three central defenders in the squad this season – Badé, Omari, Aguerd – recruitments could soon become necessary, not least with the latter expected to leave for the African Cup of Nations in January.
“We accept it, because we’ve made strategic choices. We integrated a lot of young players and I’m convinced that some of them can play in that position.”
“Nayef Aguerd will leave for the AFCON, so there will obviously be an analysis of the central defensive spot over the winter break. It’s a thought I’ve had. I have a few things in mind, I am speaking with the coach to find the best solution.”
